Part 21

The Med Spa Menu: Skin, Shape, and Sex

Sealed syringe on a gold tray in a navy clinic room
ILLUSTRATION. A woman likes the results of her cosmetic treatments. She also has untreated cardiovascular risk and has not discussed bone health. There is no need to dismiss her pleasure in her appearance. There is a need to give each appointment its proper purpose, and to make room for the less visible care.

Clinical scenes in this edition are explicitly labeled illustrations. They describe imagined situations used to explain medical decisions, not documented patients, diagnoses, conversations, or treatment outcomes. They should not be read as evidence that a particular intervention works. Personal recollections are recollections, not medical records.
