Question 318 of 433
Lasers, light, and peels?

The short answer
These have the best evidence of any cosmetic procedure for sun damage, wrinkles, and discoloration. Results depend on depth, and so do risks.
Resurfacing lasers remove or heat layers of skin to prompt new collagen. Intense pulsed light treats redness and brown spots. Peels range from mild to deep. The main risks are burns, scarring, and dark or light patches, which are more common in darker skin tones and with inexperienced operators. A dermatologist or plastic surgeon should guide the choice.
