FOUNDATIONS, selected for age and risk

  • Blood pressure at home.
  • Lipids with ApoB; Lp(a) once.
  • HbA1c or fasting glucose when diabetes screening is appropriate; an oral glucose tolerance test in selected cases.
  • hs-CRP only when it could clarify a cardiovascular risk decision.
  • Kidney function with urine albumin.
  • Liver assessment and FIB-4 when metabolic or other liver risks justify them.
  • Blood count, TSH, and ferritin if tired or at risk.
  • Heart calcium score at the right age.
  • Proven cancer screening.
  • Bone density at the right age.
  • Aortic aneurysm ultrasound for men 65 to 75 who smoked.
  • Hearing, vision, and a sleep test if you snore.
  • Grip, balance, walking speed, and a fitness measure.

SOMETIMES, for a reason

  • CT angiogram of the heart arteries.
  • Carotid ultrasound.
  • Cystatin C.
  • NT-proBNP in people with diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • Targeted genetic testing; pharmacogenomics.
  • APOE, with counseling.
  • PFAS blood level with known exposure.
  • A multi-cancer blood test, after standard screening.
  • A continuous glucose monitor for a few weeks.

SKIP

  • Food sensitivity panels.
  • Micronutrient, organic acid, and “leaky gut” tests.
  • Urine mold tests and provoked metal tests.
  • Saliva cortisol and dried-urine hormone panels.
  • MTHFR.
  • Reverse T3.
  • Inflammation panels beyond hs-CRP; NMR particle tests.
  • Telomere length.
  • Hair analysis, live blood analysis, thermography.
  • Whole-body MRI and brain volumetrics at average risk.
