Question 316 of 433
What are the risks of fillers?

The short answer
Usually minor, occasionally catastrophic. If filler enters an artery it can block blood flow, causing skin loss or blindness.
Hyaluronic acid fillers restore volume for six to eighteen months. Blockage of a blood vessel is rare, on the order of one in several thousand syringes, and most likely around the nose, between the eyebrows, and in the forehead. Skilled injectors know the anatomy, use techniques that lower the risk, and keep the dissolving enzyme on hand. Never buy filler online or have it injected with a “needle-free pen.”
