Question 398 of 433
Are artificial sweeteners safe?

The short answer
They are better than sugar for blood sugar and worse than water. Some, including erythritol and xylitol, have been linked to higher clotting and heart risk in early studies.
Those findings are not confirmed, and people who use sweeteners often have other risks. Still, there is no health benefit to seek here. Use them as a bridge away from sweet drinks, not as a destination. Your taste for sweetness resets within a few weeks.
