Do BPC-157 and TB-500 heal injuries?

Row of unlabeled small vials on navy

The short answer

In rats, impressively. In humans, nobody knows, because the studies have not been done.

BPC-157 is a fragment of a stomach protein. TB-500 is related to a natural repair protein. In animal experiments they speed healing of tendons, muscle, and gut. For BPC-157 there is no published placebo-controlled trial of effectiveness in people; the human evidence is a twelve-patient case series and a few very small pilot studies. Both are banned in competitive sport.

The theoretical worry is that a compound that promotes new blood vessel growth and tissue repair could also help a hidden tumor grow. That has not been shown, and it has not been ruled out. I understand the appeal for someone with a stubborn injury. I cannot tell you it works or that it is safe. For now, the syringe can wait.
