Question 283 of 433
Is an infrared sauna as good as a traditional one?

The short answer
Unknown. The Finnish results come from hot, traditional saunas. Infrared saunas run cooler and have been studied far less.
Small Japanese trials of a gentle infrared treatment in heart failure patients showed improved symptoms and blood markers. That is encouraging but limited. Infrared saunas are comfortable and probably safe. I would not assume they deliver the Finnish numbers, and infrared “sauna blankets” have no trials at all.
