Question 255 of 433
Is psyllium fiber worth taking?

The short answer
Yes. It is one of the few supplements with an FDA-authorized heart health claim.
A tablespoon a day lowers LDL cholesterol by 5 to 10 percent, smooths blood sugar after meals, relieves both constipation and loose stools, and feeds gut bacteria. Start with a teaspoon, drink a full glass of water with it, and take it apart from medications, since it can slow their absorption.
