Question 250 of 433
Is CoQ10 worth taking?

The short answer
For heart failure, possibly. For people on statins with muscle aches, I do not object to a trial of it; the studies are inconsistent and the risk is negligible. For general longevity, there is no evidence.
One European trial in heart failure found fewer deaths and hospitalizations with CoQ10, but it was small and has not been repeated. I do not object when my heart failure patients take it. I do object when they take it in place of their proven medicines.
