Question 135 of 433
How do I build a Blue Zone at home?

The short answer
Change your surroundings so that the healthy choice is the easy one. People in the Blue Zones do not have more willpower. They have fewer temptations and more reasons to move.
Keep fruit on the counter and beans in the pantry. Keep sweets out of the house.
Use smaller plates. Serve food at the stove, not at the table.
Walk or bike for errands under a mile.
Plant something. A garden supplies movement, vegetables, sunlight, and purpose together.
Eat dinner with other people, without screens.
Schedule one standing weekly gathering with friends who are good for you.
Keep a weekly day of rest.
Know your purpose and say it out loud.
