Why vitamin K2 with vitamin D?

The short answer

The theory is sound: vitamin D raises calcium absorption, and K2 helps direct calcium into bone and away from arteries. The proof that this prevents heart disease or fractures is not there yet.

Trials of K2 for slowing calcium buildup in arteries and heart valves have been mostly disappointing. It is safe for nearly everyone, with one important exception: people taking the blood thinner warfarin must not take it without their doctor’s guidance. Fermented foods and aged cheeses are natural sources.
