Question 130 of 433
What are the Blue Zones?

The short answer
Five regions identified by the writer Dan Buettner and his research colleagues as having unusually many people who live past 90 and 100: Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Ikaria in Greece, and the Seventh-day Adventist community of Loma Linda, California.
The name came from the blue ink researchers used to circle villages on a map. The idea became a set of books, a cookbook, and a documentary series, and it has influenced how cities are designed.
