Does mouth taping work?

The short answer

No. There is very little evidence of benefit, and it can be harmful if your nose is blocked or you have undiagnosed sleep apnea.

It became popular online as a way to force nasal breathing. A 2025 review of the studies found little support for it. If you cannot breathe comfortably through your nose, see an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Do not tape your mouth shut and hope.
