Question 356 of 433
How do I improve my gut bacteria?

The short answer
Eat many kinds of plants, eat fermented foods, and avoid unnecessary antibiotics.
A Stanford study found that ten weeks of eating fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and sauerkraut increased microbiome diversity and lowered nineteen markers of inflammation. A good target is thirty different plant foods a week, counting herbs, nuts, seeds, beans, grains, fruits, and vegetables. It is easier than it sounds.
