Question 328 of 433
Are ketamine clinics safe?

The short answer
Ketamine can lift severe depression within hours, and for some people it is lifesaving. It belongs in a medical setting with monitoring, not in the mail.
Given by vein at a low dose, ketamine produces rapid relief that lasts days to a week. A nasal form, esketamine, is FDA approved under strict supervision. The older drug is used off-label. In 2023 the FDA warned about compounded ketamine sent to patients’ homes, citing abuse, dangerous sedation, blood pressure spikes, and bladder damage. This is a powerful anesthetic. It is treatment for illness, not a wellness experience.
