Question 139 of 433
Can prediabetes be reversed?

The short answer
Glucose levels can return below the prediabetes range, and progression can often be delayed. In a major prevention trial, intensive lifestyle change outperformed metformin on average.
In the landmark Diabetes Prevention Program, people with prediabetes who lost about 7 percent of their weight and walked 150 minutes a week cut their risk of diabetes by 58 percent. Metformin cut it by 31 percent. The benefit was still visible more than twenty years later. Losing fat from the liver and the belly, building muscle, and walking for ten minutes after meals are the three most effective moves.
